How to purchase a duty free vehicle in Cyprus
Below is an explanation of what you will need to do
to qualify for a duty
free car.
Also see here for import
restrictions and duty from within and outside the EU.
Visitors (short- stay, long term or recurring
periodically)
You will need to provide:
a. External Funds (The car must be purchased using monies from outside Cyprus)
b. Passport
c. Valid Driver's License
The car can be used whilst you are on the island, but has to go in the
bonded warehouse before you leave the country.
Residents
You can buy a motor car as soon as you arrive in Cyprus. You will need to provide
the following:
a. External Funds (The car must be purchased using monies from outside Cyprus)
b. Passport
c. Valid Driver's License
How to proceed after the purchase of the car:
1. Visit the Immigration office for an alien's Registration certificate (you
will need your passport, 4 passport pictures, documents of external funds,
title deeds or renting agreement of the house at which you reside)
2. Obtain a Cyprus Driving License
3. Wait for your Temporary Residence Permit (pink slip) to come through
4. Contract of your house or rental agreement
5. Financial Evidence (External account or pension advise note)
Once you have all of the above documents ready, a personal visit to the
Custom and Excise Office in Nicosia (the capital) is essential. You will
then receive the final approval from this office, and your motor car has to
be cleared through your local custom authorities. Of course, your local
Honda Agent will guide you through the whole process.
Offshore personnel
In your case your Accountant & Lawyer will arrange the whole procedure.
All you need is your Driver's License and the Relief Form you will get from
the Ministry of Finance.

We have included Honda on these pages as we have found (through personal
experience) that their service, cars and after sales care were all excellent.
