Top 10 Dams in Cyprus for Angling

With Cyprus’s long dry summers the water levels are low though the summer months and rise again in March and April . There is no closed season for fishing except where stated and
for a few Trout reservoirs which are open normally from June to December.
We have selected a few that Zak believes to be the best.....

Achna Dam is one of the most popular reservoirs situated in the Ammochostos/Famagusta district.
It is easily accessible from the popular resorts of Ayia Napa and Protaras, and only a 45 minute drive from the once quiet town of Larnaka.
Mirror and Common Carp and Roach were the main fish caught here. However you can also catch Large mouth Bass or try for one of the rare catches of the monsters Catfish lurking in the depths.

LYMBIA - situated on the road from Larnaka to Lefkosia a small reservoir with few swims stocked with Mosquito fish, Roach, Carp, Bleak, Bass, Pumpkinseed, Perch. A few double figure carp on a good day !

DHYPOTAMOS  - on the road from Larnaka to Lemesos. This reservoir has a variety of healthy fish including Mosquito fish, Pikeperch, Roach, Bass, Catfish, Carp, Pumpkinseed, Tilapia. You can expect anything from a sensitive Roach to a rod bending Carp. Chris Becker of Cyprus Angling Holidays caught a 31 lb. 4 oz Mirror Carp setting a new record for Cyprus......
just waiting to be broken.....

LEFKARA RESERVOIR - just below the popular lace making village of Lefkara this reservoir even though large, has little access. Carp, Roach, Bleak, Eel, Trout and 'Rapfen' Carp a predator fish only found in this reservoir...2018 has Rainbow Trout, Carp, Bleak, Roach, Crayfish, Mosquito fish, Zander and Bass listed here.

KALAVASOSS - 20 minutes from Limassol towards Larnaka.
Carp from 3 to 20 lb.,
Large Roach over 2 lb. and plenty of Bass. Fishing can start off slow but a well baited swim will bring them in .. 2018 update has these fish listed - Carp, Bass, Mosquito fish, Catfish, Roach, Zander, Tilapia, Pumpkinseed..

GERMASOGEIA - Yermasoyia Reservoir
10 minutes from the tourist area of Limassol this reservoir has Carp, Roach, Bass, Silver Bream, Eels and Grey Mullet (averaging 4lbs) For the 2018 update these are listed - Carp, Roach, Bleak, Bass, Catfish, Mosquito fish, Tilapia, Pumpkinseed, Pikeperch.

Kouris Dam on the road from Lemesos/Limassol to Troodos Mountains, it is the second largest dam in Cyprus stocked with Mirror and extremely powerful Common Carp, Large Roach, Silver Bream, Bass and Zander.
The 2018 update lists - Pikeperch, Carp, Roach, Mosquito fish, Bass, Pumpkinseed, Silver bream, Catfish, Bleak, Perch, Pike, Sturgeon and  Rainbow Trout.

Asprokremmos Dam is the largest dam in Cyprus, only ten minutes from Paphos Airport.
Carp, Roach, Large mouth Bass and Trout are present.
Carp average's 2lb but catches up to 20lb is a possibility. 2018 update lists Bass, Carp, Mosquito fish, Roach, Silver bream, Catfish, Tilapia, Crayfish and Pumpkinseed.

Mavrokolymbos only a few km’s from the resort of Coral Bay this dam is plentiful in small Carp and Roach. Bass and Catfish are also present.
A few carp reaching 6lbs can be caught on a good day. !

Evretou on the road from Pafos town to Polis just of the beaten track in the picturesque hills of the Pafos district provides a venue of Carp, Trout, Catfish and Zander. Some Large Zander were present.........
So No Paddling !! 2018 update shows the fish present here as Carp, Roach, Mosquito fish. Let us know what you find.
